Joanna &Trey's Wedding
November10, 2006
back to wedding

Joanna and Trey were amazed that so many of us wanted to come. We wouldn’t miss it, especially in such a great setting, Key West.  The weather, beach, wedding were storybook   The Southernmost Resort was picture perfect, especially the sunsets.

Hospitality flowed—John, Jo, and Rhea were terrific hosts.  It was a joy getting to know Eric.  The rehearsal dinner was lovely, and Sloppy Joe’s, a local landmark was jammed—who knew that the National Speedboat Races would be in town?

We all rode the conch train (an open air trolley) to Fort Zachary State Park in our elegant beach attire to see Joanna and Trey exchange vows.  The setting was unbelievably gorgeous!  A bit before sunset, John and Jo with the stunning Joanna, walked down the path to join us at the waterfront, while a steel drummer played island wedding songs. Vows, rings, tears, hugs, were all recorded by Bobbie, our favorite photographer.  The conch train took all of us to the reception at Monty’s Key West.

After a night of celebrating, and some guests, including the groom, getting stomach flu, our fishing trip on Saturday morning aboard the Tortuga IV didn’t start quite as early as planned.  The catch was small, but great fun trying.  Fish was the mainstay for a picnic in the afternoon and wonderful Key Lime Pie.

Sunday Morning, only 10 folks remained, we went to Blue Heaven and the brunch was a bit of heaven—delightfully gourmet, outdoor tables and chickens running about for atmosphere.

Our plane was scheduled to leave mid-afternoon.  The tiny airport was crowded with week-enders when someone announced that we had to evacuate the premises—walk about one-eighth mile to be away from the buildings and property.  Since we hadn’t checked in yet, we had to tote our luggage.  About three quarters of an hour later, the all-clear sounded.  Guess someone left a bag unguarded and it seemed suspicious.
A dramatic ending, for a romantic and dynamite experience in Key West!

Our best wishes to Joanna and Trey for a long and abundantly happy, loving marriage.
